Encore on Farmer

Encore on Farmer

A distinctive high-density development on the western edge of downtown Tempe.  The initial phase focused on independent seniors and pedestrian connectivity.  A 20 foot-wide rail line easement was converted into a shaded linear pedestrian corridor using unique 'boardwalk' hardscape and planting.  This new corridor provides strong multi-modal opportunities which the City of Tempe used to inspire an extensive pedestrian network system. When complete, the 7 miles of pedestrian pathways will connect the amenities of Tempe Town Lake, ASU and adjacent neighborhoods. Farmer Avenue uses a custom paving pattern and formal street trees integrated with on-street parking to enhance the pedestrian experience.
